What is the difference between servers which are L2J and those who are not. Ive seen a lot of posts saying that L2J is crap.

java is wery easy language wich takes easy to code and all files cna be jsut downloaded by using google for l2j serv coz they are coded so easy be any noob started programer who knows a bit of java language.

sid stfu noob i juse java delfi html php language long ago and java is almsot the easyest well yes hmtl is plain simple but u get on java right when u start u can do it easy its like always repeating and whit delfi mmh its harder html and php is kidna basic but php requers more skills althout most webs are made of php and html in it makes stuff easyer personaly me first web was only using html kinda was easy but looked plain simple althouth me first flash was made whit java and they are so easy to make take like i tae me older flash and chace some stuff in it wola new game whit almsot the same codes.

So your problem is performance, features, bugs or the match with retail?

L2Off is illegal and if you are not rich it is bugland. All "free" l2off files that run arround are bugland. you have to pay some russian hacker a lot of money to have almost bugless server. L2Off can hold max 5500 players online on clustered design (4+ machines).

L2J is legal (not in USA, there all emulators are illegal) it may have many bugs but as long as you know Java, they are fixable. To learn descent Java so you can start fixing l2j bugs is 1 year work (for no non-lifers). Vanilla L2j (clean l2j without modifications) can hold ~2000 players on one machine. When L2j becomes clastered like l2off, will hold the same players online as l2off. BTW L2inc is l2j private fork so we can't say that it is the same as l2j, but it is how l2j CAN BE with some tweaking.

But for godess shake, l2j can hold easily more than 300 online!
On old RF machine (AMD 3Ghz Dual Core 6000+, 8Gb DDR2 800 RAM, Raid 1) I was having 500+ online with two-three lags every 24 hours and those from Garbage Collector. That particular machine can hold 1000 online because I have seen it. And again, its shit hardware but guess what, on same hardware l2off would suck hairy balls...

L2off has many mistakes in the design (tabbed datafiles when l2j uses DB or XML or even the chest exploit). If you want to run l2 server, be a l2jserver.com forum troll for a month or two and use l2j.
