@chinatown

I agree that L2 was not made to last few months and make a new server. It's the same story with all games, not only L2.

But L2 nowadays has changed a lot and community if the one who controls the pace of it. You will not have a server/project successful if people gets bored. MMORPG is no about graphic, cinematics or other shit, it's about gameplay. And if gameplay is boring, noone will play the game. So here comes most annoying thing. Ok, let's say I come to 10month old server with 500 people online (actually for c6 500 online is enough to be interesting to play), but how can I be sure that people will not leave server till I get to the point in the game where I can actually fight against those people (of course new project doesn't mean you will have fun time too cause we saw how 9/10 small projects fails in days/weeks).

This is why I thought you will be smart and open another low rate server and after some time merge servers. If you did this, you would satisfy both sides of players (those who want play in 1 server for more than few months and those people who want play in fresh server).

I am interested in your project for few weeks but something pushes me away to play there. There are no information how server is doing at this moment, is there any action, is there a decent online count and so on.. and when I open forums, I see mostly no people there and if there are any topics, you mostly see posts which not makes server looking good.

I respect every admin who is brave enough to open a low rate server. It doesnt matter if you are called dawn, bloodbros, or whatever.
However, low rate servers are only attractive in their early weeks nowadays. More than half l2 players are keen on fresh starts every year.
"The customer is always right" and you have to offer something to your "customers". The solution is clear.

The is simply no way that old project can hold all their players left if there are a new server with similar rates and is not shjt. People will jump from older to newer server.

I hate this, but I can't (we can't) do anything about it. the only way to stop it would be mkae a server, let's say C4 chronicle and update to newer chronicle every few months. In this way server will not be starving of action. Once you get everything and ready to "leave" here comes an update and you have what to do for some time... This is why we can't compare old L2 with nowadays. Old L2 had updates to give people reason to stay playing game, but private project which stays on same chronicle for a long time will have nothing to offer. This is why people need fresh servers every few months.

I still believe if someone makes a server which "season feature". Let's say 1st season mages/archers everythere and other classes can't compete. Then the 2nd season will have either boosted other classes or nerfed the "OP" ones. and in this way game would not only get interesting every season cause things changes, people would also had a project to stay just with fresh start every few months.

Guys you are wrong, Im playing in L2Dawn and its getting bigger slowly, when i started around September, it had really few ppl, but nowadays i see many allies, new clans and everything. its growing fast now :D
Its definitively not a ghost town, we have pvp, wars, sieges and many more, and imagine i dont belong to one of the biggest clans in this server.
Appart from that, we have many events latelly, TVT, hide and seek ecc

Stumbled on this topic on the front page again and gave it a read and what striked me most is how confidently chilled people are from Dawn in comparison to others jinxing that server agressively. And come to think of it, don't really know where these latter guys getting their facts from. I mean Dawn is not even experiencing a temporal population drop, of all things it actually even more lively than how it was six months ago.
I don't understand the misguided among us wanting a fresh start, but I accept it. By all means go for it if that's your hearts desire. But claiming that they want to go because Dawn is dying raises some serious questions about their moral and intellectual abilities. And honestly, if I - for a moment - put myself into the perspective of someone considering to check this server out, I don't find that approach too appealing.

I want play on dawn, I want play on server which cares about their players. But when I check forums, it looks dead. No clans recruiting people, no various discussions are going on... It feels empty. And when you come in topic like this and see that thoughts getting "confirmed" my various people that project X is almost dead, you start search something else.

As I said, i dont care about how the server is called. I am only looking for a low rate server with population and competition.

Hello everyone! I've been reading the forums for a while, a few years actually, but I never had a real reason to make an account and post since I like being silent most of the times. Reading this topic made me reconsider so here I am.

I'm a L2Dawn player to begin with and I have no idea what some of you are talking about. Dead server? Old server? Dead forum? Do you know why L2Dawn is different? People that play on L2Dawn actually spend their time IN GAME. I've been playing there since beta - yes, make that 1 year. This server never dies. It's gone through hard times last summer when it wasn't advertised enough and a few other fail projects (Abyss, Azure, etc.) opened. Those guys even tried to ddos L2Dawn and failed. Guess who's still up now, growing daily ever since it opened, and having about 1.5k players (maybe 4-5 times more than 1/2 year ago)? Have you ever heard of a lowrate INT server growing and being constant in all matters for such a long time lately? Probably not. Even if you find the forum activity as being low, you should go on the field. There's plenty of action, the market isn't bad at all considering we can't have similar servers with 3-4k players anymore since it's a fading game. There are clans willing to recruit, there are wars, and the fact that the server is old, contrary to popular belief, actually helps newbies becase items exist on the market, you can get money from academy and help from clans. It's way easier to grow now than it was back in the first days.

But yeah, if you're one of the server hoppers, then L2Dawn is indeed not for you.

@theboxtops

lets see forums:
>In last 1 week only 5 topics were made in general discussions;
> Clan recruitment (on forum) last entry was 6 days ago and in last week only 4 topics (which 1 is fake).

So, if server really has at least 1k online, the forum would be much much more active, especially clan recruitment section.

Why I don't see server advertise by other people in other forums/websites? Why even PMFUN topic is inactive.

So please, from my perspective (a player who looking for server) is not attractive at all and I would never join such server if I know that new server is coming out.

Another new account? It seems you feel frighten of new low rate server opening, maybe that could kill definitely your server xD
I understand all of you, but It is 2016 and lineage2 won't be like it used to be.

That's where we disagree. You can go against the flow and do things differently!

Thats how lineage works now.
People are not keen on starting in a low population server where most players are full equip and top level. From the point of view of clans/cps, you can't face those players, they will own you at all. You would need several months to reach them, and it may be possible it would be too late at the end.
Only solo players or farmers would enjoy that way. But lineage is a pvp game, and long life servers lose interest for new incoming clans/cps for that reason.

Yes you can. In one month an organized clan can equip their members with A sets and S weapon and have most of them subbed. What you need is people, nothing else. L2 is a numbers game.

The 2 main clans on dawn will be there even if some small ones disappear. How do I know that? Because they have invested too much time (10 months) and effort to quit now. As long as they have someone to fight against they will be there.

If the customer is always right then all servers should be mid/high rates with npc buffers. Because that's what the majority wants really. Just compare low rates to mid and see which one has the more 'customers'.

Dawn is so obviously a better choice, it's sad reading how people in this thread will make any excuse to follow the shitty server hoppers.
