Nobody cares about your feelings, or your thesis about lineage in the 21st century. xD
Nobody is talking about it will be a nice server. It will be another one, that will die soon or later.
The time it last some people will enjoy it, then will try another one. Who knows.
But, please stop repeating all that boring dissertation about how l2 works nowadays, we all know, we will have to deal with it. Thats all.

The question is will you stay if the online isn't what you expected? Is a low pop server good enough just because it's new?

ps My thesis has been proven countless times :)

I will play with two CP, we will see and we will decide. I don't take any decision on my own.
People who meet us (from BMF e.g.), know we are not server jumpers.

I don't know about you but last time i had fun in L2 was back when 3310 was still commonplace.

This game is not about fun for people who make or break servers since the day last EU driven RPG Club shut its doors. Its about competition, rush and domination based on knowledge acquired over a decade or less of playing L2. Only fun to be had is after intense grind and first hero rush is over and you can have fun at sieges, epics and general pvp.

Sure there are people who enjoy this game as i enjoy single player titles, but those people are 1 in 100 and they cannot sustain a server that would interest anyone who can actually contribute towards forming sides and controlling/impacting economy. In the past when even the factors played L2 for what it was, the casual to competitive player ratio did not matter whatsoever.

Every single time i go to a private server for past 3 years if not more, i have to keep convincing myself daily that 'there are enough casuals and this server will be nice, people will catch up' , fast forward 2 weeks and you are still the only party farming the spot that 5 years back would have been contested 24/7 by 10 different groups. This leads to interior drama between party and clan members, some trying to justify staying, others - quitting. Guess who and what prevails in the end of that drama?

This deterioration is now in full swing for some years and it will only get worse, eventually there wont be any serious players left for private servers to sustain themselves from donations and they will become rarer and rarer, eventually completely vanishing, leaving only shitty H5 mid rates for randoms and tryhards that never made it to forever battle among each other for the title of irrelevancy and has-been's.

@Obscure
Crippling nostalgia isn't the reason. Nostalgia implies a period of being away from L2 mate. Most of these people never stopped playing the game. Want daily pvps? Join our ru friends.
@everyone
This server is a fcking joke. I love how staff encourages people to vote for premium accounts. They are so professional lel. Doesn't take much brain to realize they've opened this sh!t to pocket some donation money.

As far as I know, nowadays you only can donate for class change quest, accesories and name change.

There is a poll asking about including boosting donation, but most people are saying NO. So, I dont think they will set up it. The NO is winning the poll by far

PS: I see many people here blaming leaver players because they ruin servers, however at the same time all of you want servers to fail before even it have started. It might be possible all of you are responsible for fails as well as leavers.
Admins who bet for low rate servers deserve respect.

You're delusional if you think there's any betting involved. Everything is always calculated and outside of passion projects like Citadel, Nostalgia, Dawn etc all these servers always end up with +, a decent one if population is above 500 on the start. Most of the time admins are IT guys for whom only investment into opening and maintaining the server is time. This same guy is making servers for past 6 years if not more, there's no (what if) chance here. If you think that they developed / fixed anything for this particular server you are wrong. There are only few devs left who are still in L2 scene and trust me, they are not a part of this project.

Why do you think there is no precise information on what bot protection, anti-ddos they use? What specifically was developed/fixed in the server files? Because everything they use is free and files are downloaded from random website or simply reused from their 10 previous projects that they had under different names. Oh and talking about betting, i'd wager that this server is on the same l2j files that are used by 1000 other Interlude servers. But i guess people don't really care as long as its low rate and reaching the ceiling in this shitcan of a chronicle can be delayed for a month until another 100%retailGMSHOPINGIRANx0,5 server gets to cash in.

@ obscure

Why they should tell you what bot/ddos protection they use? Don't you think that it only make things worse? If people knows what server has, they can easier to exploit it, it would be easier to use bots for them. Same story goes with ddos protection.

Also Citadel had also PTS GF files which you can get freely if you just do enough research. The only thing they did was downgrade client they got.

As I know, the guy who is behind this project is same guy who was under Avalonas server (it was one of the greatest L2 projects in lithuania). I would not be even surprised if they use those files too (C4 client with c6 extender).

_________________________________________________________

REGARDING FILES. THERE WAS NEVER A TRUE (FULL) L2OFF C6 FILES AND THERE WILL NEVER BE. ALL PROJECT WHICH CLAIMS HAVING 100% OFF FILES LIES TO YOU. THERE ARE ONLY C4/GF/H5 OFF/PTS FILES LEAKED. ALL OTHER PROJECTS (C6/HB/EPILOGUE/FREYA) ARE CUSTOM AND HAS A SOME PART OF JAVA FILES CODES OR WHAT EVER. AND YOUR SO HIGHLY RATED SERVER DAWN I THE SAME STORY.

_________________________________________________________

Coming back to topic, yes DAWN project was damn succesful, but L2 no need anymore for 1 year projects because of how community works. Community just simply needs fresh start every 4-6 months. The game simply evolved and everything goes 10-20 times faster than in 2007-2009 glory C6 days. Here DAWN project holder lost an opportunity to make another low rate project in the end of the winter. In the end they could just merge both servers and all people who played on both project would be happy (like people do with RPG club project).

Posting info about their bot/ddos guard won't change a thing. Most premium bots are undetected anyway. And if by chance the server was to launch with let's say 1k+ people, it would get ddosed 100%.

What you said regarding files is 100% true. Yes L2 is coded in more than 1 language including java.

About dawn. It is a passion project like Obscure said ; their goal isn't to make money. They don't aim for the kind of community you're talking about. The server was 'dead' more than once and yet they kept it alive. It has recovered since then and today it has a healthy community. For me a server isn't successful just because it managed to have 1-2k people for a month.

Thats how lineage works now.
People are not keen on starting in a low population server where most players are full equip and top level. From the point of view of clans/cps, you can't face those players, they will own you at all. You would need several months to reach them, and it may be possible it would be too late at the end.
Only solo players or farmers would enjoy that way. But lineage is a pvp game, and long life servers lose interest for new incoming clans/cps for that reason.

Forgive me for intruding, but I am feeling somewhat invited to this thread since I saw some shouts in Giran on L2Dawn about some server named Bloodbross, inviting me to check it out. So here I am. Another x5 server opening? I guess from my, as a Dawn team member's perspective, that creates some competition, but we don't mind that. After all, we believe that L2 community deserves a right to variety and choice of where/ how and when they want to play this good old masterpiece of a game.

And Inubis you caught my attention. While your position comes from a player's perspective, let me tell you about mine from an actual experience of working on L2Dawn. Normally, I don't do that, but as somebody said, L2Dawn is a passion to us and is very dear to us, so this time I just felt it would be right to correct some of your words.

1) Lineage 2 (and I am speaking about the game as a whole, not a particular private server) was never designed to last a few months and shut down. On the contrary, Lineage is like wine. You need time to get the full and best taste of it. Economy must root in deeply to become stable. Every single bug, from the smallest to the biggest one requires time - whether it is a development or decision time. To perfect a server you need to love it like a child and literally be a sponge - read about it everywhere and everything. The history, the lore, the official NCsoft patch notes, speak to old players. The longer the server is online, the more stable it is, thanks (and I am sincerely grateful to our players) to the player input, reports, GM work and long research. A tendency to "rush", "hurry before it closes" or attach a label "dead"
to a server that has passed its lifespan of 3 months comes in a failed attempt to hide a simple fact - a lot of servers are a cashgrab and are designed there to be up for as long as the money is coming in and shutdown as soon as the population, aka the profits start declining. I am sorry for exposing this fact, but this is a simple truth. From my own experience working on L2Dawn - if you really love the game and not the money, you will sacrifice all. Money, time and real life to get it done right. Maybe one of the reasons L2Dawn is still alive after nearly 1 year is because we don't need money, and money was never a goal of ours, and we can easily fund the server ourselves. It is love that drives us forward.

2) You said Dawn is dead. "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. " - Mark Twain.

No, L2Dawn is not dead. By both meanings - a) technically and b) socially.

a) technically - you are welcome to visit our ever-expanding changelog of updates and patches improving the game/ fixing it and its retail experience on our forums.

b) the server has never been dead and is not dead in terms of population. In fact, we are constantly growing. Yes, population is like ocean - going up and down in waves but since we are doing this out of love to the community and the game and we don't really care about money we can keep the server online and constantly develop it indefinitely. Usually, that is not needed, but sometimes we offer players with similar claims of death like yours a tour around the world of Lineage 2, so you can see the population with your own eyes and decide if that satisfies you. Just drop me a pm on our forums and I will show you how big, in all meanings, L2Dawn has become.
