I've been playing Lineage 2 private server for like 10 years on and off
and I remember every once in a while there was a server that would start and it would have 1000+
people on day one. Are those days gone?

I haven't been looking too actively lately but every time I look it just seem to not be a thing anymore.
You never know if a server that's coming up is gonna be good. Most server I've played just start at like 40 players and you have no idea if its going anywhere.

I know rpg-club is somewhat popular but foreign server just doesn't work out when you dont know their language and there site and software feels a little too invasive to my liking.

So I'm hoping someone that's been active could tell me whats going on with that or is the golden age of private server gone and you just have to be content with small servers?

Lineage 2 is like most MMORPG, it has a flawed economy. Joining a server that started few months ago is a bad idea. Normally on official they had new updates coming up that would adjust the inflation.
But private servers lack that. If private servers could find a way to move from chronicle to chronicle they could get away from this problem temporarily and could make a server last way longer.
But that would be way too complicated and not guaranteed to work, at least it would be closer to the original experience.

Personally If I cared to make a server I would change the system a little.
Keep the game the same but make it so people can enjoy areas that they normaly don't get to play and have people get more involved with everything rather then have people rush to max level and farm their gear.

As i see you are same as current community. Didnt even bother to check. Thats why these days srv dont last, not because administrator dont want, but due attitude and actions of ppl like you : "omg this server opened 20 days ago (as our srv), it is too late to join !" .
So you jump from server to server and write on pmfun : guys i cant find a stable project.

Rpg-club opened 4 days ago and it has 11.000 - 12.000 online at prime time (real number, checked with programs)

So 6.500 online on official server causing big instability and 7.000 leading to crashing of server, but sure rpg-club has 12.000 people online at the same time ...

Well yea blaming the players is the easiest way to go. I'm clearly to blame since I said I'm not looking for a server while you try to take this as an opportunity to advertise your server. This is a "let's talk about server issues" post not a "wtf server do can i play" post. I've not been around for a few years and i want to know what's going on. Top 100 are shit, the forum is overwhelming. You know lots of server are just in there to get a quick buck from donation then shut their shit down. Me selecting a server is not gonna be an over night decision if i plan to invest 3 months of my life in it and obviously I don't want to join an inflated server that's 6 months hold. It's not the players fault its how the game is made.



I would not trust that number either but official is hosted by investors that try to make money so of course their servers are gonna be shit.

I played on RPG club a while back and after 2 months most of the english speaker were gone and russian culture is antisocial so you end up alone. I just don't want to go there anymore.

I was rly surprised too but if u gonna use some programs you can check yourself, the peak is at 18:00-22:00

Usually they show 2x or 3x online on their websites but this one is rly packed and somehow they managed to have 10k+ online w/o those sick NPC laggs

Russians estimated RPG-CLUB made 20.000$ only in the first day (counting all cps, changing class/VIP etc), I wouldnt be surprised if they invested a lot into their server hosting; also the DDOS protection was holding kinda ok (atleast for the VIP acounts) having 99% lagfree playtime in the past 4 days (this is an amazing outcome for such a populated/known server)


At 4:00 AM in the morning you couldnt find any single empty room in FOG / IT / pavel & lab / cruma / TOI


As for the community I think this server is the closest in the past years to the old 15x g final rpg, there is even a EU clan with 20+ cps and I saw many others playing alone at start

It is your choice where to play , but writing that you can find a server is pure bullshit when you have at least 4 big srv opened only november : dex,mid,rpg,classic

For advertise server there is a special section , not on these topics .

If you search for a server that u want to be since day 1 , then use the tops : hopzone,l2topzone etc

Gracia final is the one I played a while back there.
Every english player was gone after 2 months.
it was just not that enjoyable even thought I got Hero status it wasn't really worth it.
Maybe Gracia final is to blame its the worse update i've personnaly played.
Game is way too imbalanced, Kamael or GTFO.

golden age of private servers is gone.

blame the community and the owners.

community changed, players are into rush, getting bored faster and leaving

owners prefer new servers cause they bring in some new cash, but on the other hand, when ppl leave deserting a server, they "force" the owner to close. economically speaking,they do the right thing.

and the large number of private servers doesn't arrange things too much.

if u wanna be sure u'll still have your char in a few moths/years, play on official

if u wanna play on crowded servers, play rpg or dex, but 1st has too many russians and, 2nd will start to open new servers every month, soon, considering the rate of new servers opened lately (old dex is gone, may it rip )

if u wanna play on botland, play l2mid

if u wanna play old hardcore style, play l2classic (but since it's the 1st project of this kind,ppl started to ask how much time a server like this will be up)

some other big servers with big community around are dragon network and raid fight

if u accept the server jumpers, the wipes and the money that now stand as "middle name" for the private servers community then stay play some lineage.

else move along, there r plenty of mmos out there

that 15x lasted for 1+ years, they even updated it to hi5 and still a lot of EU players played there

there was like rly huge EU community for 2-4 months (BMF / Tempest / OOC / Laylow&Genocide + some other clans) , after some time a few quit but new EU sides emerged (mainly BOB and the other polak side)

Since 2013 till current Wrath server , dex didnt created any server . We only joined 4 co-op projects with liru in past 2 years. Was the only way to provide retail files to our players , yet a bad idea since russians idea of a server is : when low online , close .
Wrath 5x is the first server made and run by dexteam and made by dex old staff . Result : in game chat is in english ,no rtm , gms are from gr,ro,br,nl,pl , ppl dont rush to end and no plan to close or announce a new server soon ( except classic 2.0 l2off if files will be ready )

There is a nice server, and since it is not my server I cant advertise. believe it or not You can farm real money in the server beside playing. farming real money is not like other fake server where u need to join TVT/GVG. and it will be limited only for strong clan. any players can farm money by some cretin rules and luck ofc.
