Hopefully the server is going to open next month (the name is winterfell,yeah game of thrones i know but sick and tired of ancient ones soz)and i would like to make a survey about what they players really want.The rates are going to be (xp-x5 party xp-x6 sp-x7 adena-x8 drop-x10)
I am going to open a very balanced server and i invested quite a few money and loads of time in it so
i am looking forward to hear your opinion about my ideas.
The server is going to be rpg with no need to buy books in order to learn the skills, you will be able to buy your 1st,2nd,3rd class quests with adena but if the quests be done as they should the reward is going to be (20-top D weapon,40 top C,76 top A,3 giants books,2 ews,2 eas).The equipment shops will provide you with your equipment until B grades as well as an npc buffer untill you become 52 and it will also be a luxury gatekeeper next to the regural to teleport you anywhere but for the triple price than the regular.We are going to have more than 4 events a day and actually i'm aimming for a server that you will never get bored and be rewarded for your efforts and there NOT going to be donations like +16 weapons etc,we want it balanced and for everybody.

If you give equip for free whats the point of having the dwarf races?
No commerce for mats, keys, recipes, spellbooks?

Nobody wants such a server, i repeat nobody.

A very promising server and one that could last for a long time would be,

-High Five chronicle, most balanced
-Rates either very low x3-x4, or something like x12-x15.

-1 game window per machine, this is a very important change, game started as p2p, not every player on offi could afford additional account costs! Result of this would be more player interaction and also a fairer place for solo players/randoms since the demand for all classes will be high. I really don't see a real downside to it, at least one that would keep ppl from playing. Can't exp without buffs? Earn your place in a party, or pick a lower lvl spot, be more efficient etc..You can get round problems like that.

-Gm presence ingame, at least during prime time, talks to player and reassures them that the server is being taken care of, no more "no available Gms" message all the time.

-A second coin currency in addition to adenas could possible benefit the economy, some servers have used it in the past.

-Variety of events, TvT, last man standing, etc.

-Account safety options, something similar to rpg-club's

That's my humble opinion. No server that I'm aware of has stepped up with something like that.

so you recomend no npc buffers until 40 or 52 and no rewards for the people who actually do the quests,i think the spellbooks are too much.the server i used to play was x3 and believe me you had to make everything on your own,my clan was amazingly organised and to make an imperial crusader took me just 4 months lol i enjoy more than anyone the hardcore side of l2 is just that i invest too much money on this server.i will let you know the conclusion.

You describe a very decent server,i like a lot your ideas especially about the 1 window per pc but i was thinking to make boting prohibited but with one window both are too much i think.
about the GM's we will be 3 with me and the others are professionals planning to organise 3-4 events a day of all kind and the developers are also from the company that will host the server so the set up is one of the best,the only problem is that the monthly expenditures of the server are too much and i will need to have donations but in stuff like hats,pets,soul crystals maybe and life stones.
and we will organise a nice forum along with the website with many options and attractions as well.

The 1 game window per machine idea is a bit risky but I think a well advertised/organised server can only benefit from it.
Now I remembered that l2.ws, a quite successful server used the 1 game window rule during the first weeks after launch, the population didn't suffer at all, in fact was decent, later they disabled it though and allowed one additional box, player reaction was mixed, some liked it some not. That is to prove that those who want multibox are not the majority, there are people who would welcome this rule, anyway the choise is yours.

Didn't take into account server costs in my post but yeah it can't be ignored. If you're looking for donation options then in my opinion only items available should be also obtainable via normal gameplay like soulstones, soulshots, enchants, perhaps even some craft materials can bring you profit.
Custom equipments like talismans and custom cloaks with inventory slots are a no-no for me because they can break balance.

Also I read somewhere the server you're going for can handle 5500 people, I think it would be more realistic if you aim for 1000 or so happy long-term players.

and i had the same in mind about the donation,not selling armors or anything that boosts a players stats. The reason i rented a server which handle 5.500 ppl is because i want the best quality for the players without lag or any technical problems its not because im aiming for that ammount of players,im down to earth man and know what to expect,but what i really try to do is an "official" server with bigger rates and many events,im also thinking the possibility to make it c4 with full godess of destruction places etc but mainy c4 rules plus in olympiad the winner get 1/3 of his opponents points as it used to be.

Haven't read all the posts above but as far as I saw ,some really positive features IMO would be that:

1 window per pc,buffer with basic buffs (not even GM/GS and OFC NO COV,POF,POW1,POW2,DANCES,SONGS)and a gmshop till B grd.About MoM and BoM they should definitely be around your main town at all times.

Also rates shouldn't be that far from a mid rate server for example if I was going to launch a GF server and assuming I had decided to make a server as the one I describided I would make it x9 or x12.

About chronicles I wouldn't really go with H5 ,while almost everything is well balanced and organized I think its kinda to close to GoD client that most of us (l2 players) hate.IL is a really good and loveable client but its too old .I would suggest a HB or GF or GE server!

Anyway don't mind me if I did some mistakes inside that text I was in a rush.Ohh and GL with whatever you decide to do pal.

The winner will gain the 1/3 of his opponents points

Safe +3, +4 70% above that 20%,blessed enchants 40% max +16
BUFFS:
Support NPC basic buffs until 2nd class change (26 buffs slots) buff duration 19 minutes
GAME PLAY:
The is going to be almost like the official,1 window per computer,anti-bot system,starters pack,GM support 18h per day,4-6 events per day of all natures and the raid bosses are going to respawn every 4 days
DONATION:
Due to the expenses of the server donation will be needed and the rewards will be as follows:
1-Enchant scrolls
2-Name change
3-Hair and facial accessories
4-Hair color-style and facelift potions
5-Pets (including horses and lions,excluding wyverns)
6-soul crystals
7-life stones

RB's 4 days/enchant rate 20%/Donation for Enchants/Soul Crystal ? Wow so hardcore,''almost like official''.

Yes is going to be a hard one and the enchants indeed are going to be 20% after +4
The donators tho will be able to get scrolls,not enchanted weapons and if you have proposals I'd rather hear them than read "shitty comments"
By the way l2 olympus was like that without the donations tho cause the admin owned his own internet cafe and could support it from there.
