Hi everyone,

this is my first post here :p.

I have some questions about leveling a subclass.

I play on a retail-like 7x server where I have a spellhowler that's about to finish his subclass quests. I want to sub a dagger because I haven't played one in a long time. Since im a DE i can't sub PW... so out of TH and AW which should i sub given that I have prepared for equips:

C grade: +8 dark screamer focus, plated leather set (but could easily get theca/tempered mithril)
B grade: skipping B grade
A grade: DC light set, bloody orchid focus

Basically I'm having a race with my friend to see who can get level 75 subclass first. She has the extreme advantage because she's subbing summoner but I really want to play a dagger so I refuse to change my sub choice to necro or something just because they level better.

Also, I have a couple of buffers I can dual box and keep out of party to help leveling, but my comp can only handle two clients smoothly so I have to pic one. Should i pick:

shillient saint level 78
heiterphant level 78

I was thinking that, although the prophet buffs are superior, with the SS i could level with stabs and just recharge myself... also prophecy of wind is just MADE for daggers... but prophecy of fire would still be good for leveling... and I know i'm gonna miss haste 2, zerk and greater might...

Lastly, where can i level with this stuff? I know how to level daggers normally, but I've never done it with such good gear and a crazy buffer... I want to level FAST...

Lastly, what's the best places to level with a summoner (i THINK she's going warlock... either that or elemental summoner. her main is an SR so she can't sub PS) and a dagger? I have a feeling this "competition" isn't going to last long.

well, about the dagger to chose...go AW for shure.

about the buffer...You can have both. You can buff with PP and then change to SE for recharges and etc. If ur pc can do it fast enought not to lose many time on buffing, ur fine. Or u can have AW+SE always open and then open a third window for PP. U can have a little lag, but will be only for a few seconds, after buffing logout with PP and ur back to 2 windows. Oh, and u should use POF for lvling i think.

About equips, the ones u got are just perfect

About lvling, well if ur going to use a Shilien saint recharging u for like 200 MP so u can stab like a mad-man, try going to yellow, red (not shure if its a good thing), maybe try cata or any mobs x2 or more. With ur stabs, even in a higher lvl mob with lots of HP, u will make great damage and hes going down pretty fast.

Ofc dont use only stabs to kill mobs. Maybe do one stab as first attack from the back, then maybe one in between, maybe if u see the mob is hard or if u dont get many crits.

hmmm so AW over TH?

My pc CANNOT run 3 clients. I've tried it, it just doesn't work. Also, my server doesn't allow triboxing anyway. Switching between chars might work but it means i have to come back to the same spot every 5 minutes to get PoF because i'd want my SE following me to recharge and heal as i go... pain in the ass alert!

I'm actually at a bit of a loss as to what prophecy of wind DOES... All i know is that it's a dagger buff... somethign about back damage? one of the strengths of an AW is hex... and if oyu hex a mob you can't get to it's back anymore (it aggros on u, duh). so i should probably just go to the back and use deadly blow anyway... bleh i dont know.

choose both buffers..and change the accounts
now i dont get ur problem:(what means same location?u travel thrue world of aden?xD choose some place with good spawns(number of spawns) and stay there catacomb rooms are perfect:}choose a room and here u go both buffers are great u just need-->berserk spirit+vamp rage and u r leveling machine especially u have such high lvl chars!the only advantage of the prophet is the berserk spirit, well and pof maybe
better choose the SE(and try to get staff with bless the body effect it helps MUCH)
profecy of wind is best for pvping(adds very nice speed bonus so u reach ur target WAY faster and kick ass WAY faster)

Prophecy of Wind: Accuracy +4, Evasion +4, Atk Speed +20%, Recover 5% of melee physical damage as HP, Critical +20% from behind, Critical Damage from behind +20%, Debuff Resistance +10%

Prophecy of Fire: HP +20%, HP regen per tick +20%, P.Atk. +10%, P.Def. +20%, Accuracy +4, Speed -10%, Atk. Spd. +20%, Debuff Resistance +10%

Prophecy of fire should be made for pvp, but since on a dagger speed is important, i advice you to stick to it on lvling. Tag the SE along with you and keep your pp somewhere so you can buff every 20 minutes. Berserker spirit is pretty good.
But since you're taking the SE with you, you should use prophecy of wind. It's not bad at all, it's just that pof gives pdef, nothing more. But it cuts off speed, and you may want to reach mobs quicker, especially if they're 1x mobs.

If you're in cata, you'll want powind, because of the vr effect. You may want to make aoe.
Actually... Pof is better for an aoe because it gives a lot of pdef.

@ icarus and godsend:

Are you guys agreeing that AW is the better choice? Also, shouldn't AW use soul sep crit damage over bloody orchid focus?

Also, cata leveling is fine once i hit a point wher ei can't level in a buff round... 40-56ish with this gear and full buffs and limitless heals/recharges i'm going to need to keep moving. I was thinking about starting at the entrance to DV and just moving deeper as I level up, never going back to town and eventually getting to kill bloody queens and stuff. after that i head into catas...

hmm lemme think;] ill share with u now
highest str dagger=highest crit dmg so critical dmg is rly good for u + very important pvp SA;]
all say focus is good-they are right
34dex=second dex class ingame(elves have 35) so u crit rly often and ur crits hurt!cuz of high str and hex and ur vampiric buffs have better effect(often crits=more hp absorbed)

AW dont get crit chance passive, unlike TH and PW so TH actually have a higher crit rate than AW. in addition, TH get boost attack speed passives (3 of them, actually) which boosts their attack speed well beyond the AW attack speed. Consider further than the TH only has 1 more strength less than AW leading to a whopping 2% bonus pattack.

Next up, remember i have a bloody orichid focus, NOT a soul sep crit damage. I'm not going to waste time spoiling mats to try to make a soul sep craft that might fail.

I'm not saying AW is bad (hex pwns), i'm just playing devil's advocate here.

ha, i thought you were somewhat useful. acutally you're just an over arrogant, 12 year old forum troll who doens't even know the meaning of playing devil's advocate. and clearly you don't seem to understand that i'm not getting two A grade weapons for a subclass. i was asking you to pick AW or TH and you didn't even ATTEMPT to asnwer that question. The crit rate and attack speed comments were related to your comment about VR.

you fail. go home and cry.

Aw isn't bad. It's the best dagger in pve. Even if he hasn't got atk speed and critical rate, hex means +23% more damage, and that assures the most dps on a target than any other dagger.

Th at lvl 78 is purely nerfed. Th blow (dagger skill) land rate is weak. Very weak. At lvl 58, the aw gets mortal strike 1, which adds about 15% in blow land rate. But you don't exactly see a difference. At lvl 66, he gets mortal strike lvl 2. That's when you see a difference. It's around +25% blow land rate. At lvl 74, he gets mortal strike 3, meaning around +40% blow land rate (+35% by some calculations).
And to be clearly on top, at lvl 78, the aw gets a big boost from focus death. Focus death means +60% blow land rate. With focus death + mortal strike 3, the blow land rate is around 90%+. While the th ONLY gets critical blow, which is the same as mortal strike 3, but it lasts 10 seconds, and not 2 minutes like the mortal strike and focus death.

That's the reason why aw is better than the th. Ofc, the th has switch too, not only trick, so he can get behind the enemy's back easier. But he lacks damage output... If an aw gets behind you it's very grave. Focus death reduces critical damage from the front by 30%, but increase the critical damage from the back by 90%. That means you do slightly less damage from the front, but from the back you do double damage per blow.

Not to mention that the aw, having critical power lvl 6 passive and incredible blow land rate (like the pw), gets the best boost from all daggers in hellbound. Why? Because that critical power passive, combined with hex, critical wound and expose weak point means a lot of damage. Go behind someone, use those skill and then backstab. You will do great damage. But what if you CRIT that backstab? Chance of 1 hit kill on light armor. The mage dies only on crit backstab without any more debuffs.

Now THIS is why aw>th.
