All right as everyone noticed there's a large quantity of shitty servers in the l2 world with the new lolchronicles which imo really twisted the way lineage 2 was meant to be played.

So, me and one of my good friends decided to take matters into our own hands and create a retail hellbound server. Yes, RETAIL files. Not some loljava, we've already seen that in the hellbound era. This is pretty straightforward, the server should be basically running since we already have all the components working together. However, the machine we tested only had 4 gigs of ram and I think you can imagine that the pagefile was set to another 4 gigs and it still wasnt enough.

I own a new machine which I think will keep a decent population on it.

Core i7 2600k @3.8 GHz.
16 gigs ram.
500 mb/s read/write ssd.


I ONLY want to see if there are people interested. I will create another topic if I see there are people interested. We will start work after the university exam period (this is the main reason why I haven't been active on the forum) which should end in about one week.

The idea is very good since HB is kind of mixture of old L2 with the start of new features which already changed L2 by now.

I think it's decent enough, rams are ok, ssd hd are top quality hardware, the real question is indeed " if anyone is interested ", since Dex will open a new IL serv. , and Aria has a pretty good thing there, true different chronicles, anyway if Aria fails ( hope not ) i would be interested.

It's not as good as the xeons, but it's in the high-end range for desktops. I think it will be able to hold almost 1k players.

And yeah, since dex is opening an interlude server, this is the reason i asked. If this project won't get enough attention I will launch it when people get tired of dex.

Well since I see 4 downvotes and no replies I'll just assume they're just fanboys with no arguments.

As far as I remember, hellbound doesn't have wind riding and stuff. But even if it does, I don't think it would be too imbalanced. The main reason why we're going for hellbound is because I think it's the most balanced chronicle after c5.

And I think the server will hover around 20x in the end. I will make a poll to see what people want, and it will definitely be a factor in our decision, but we're also trying to create a server which is would be perfect if we would play it. And I've had the greatest fun on mid-rates to be honest.

L2Off platform is based on I/O and RAM, so this hardware is good enough for the first 1000 players. You can also make a small tcp server and point it as a logd server to avoid log writes to save a LOT of I/O, still it would hurt a lot in case of a bug/ exploit dupe.

well, if you will run HB server around x10 rates, i am in. whatever online amount. 1k for HB is enough if community is good.
