Just Opened!

Welcome to a brand new way to develop a Lineage II Emulation server!

First, a little about our system:

Unlike most emulation systems we wrote the main core in C++, although we are not the first to do something like this we have taken it a few steps further. First is that since Java based cores are easy to use and manager we took those elements and coded them into our system. Things such as the Admin Panel and all the normal Java features/commands are in our C++ core. The second thing that is different is that our C++ core uses Java script injection; this means the quests, multisells, skills and 90% of the system scripts are written in Java script and called by the main core.

Coding the system in C++ give this core the stability to handle up to 6000 players, a feature that Java based cores lack. We also use MSSQL to handle our database as it more efficient and stable when handling large databases, MySQL was not powerful enough for us, plus our software is true 64bit Technology and only runs on a Windows 64bit Platform (we do not support Linux).

Register and log into the server to help us make Hybrid L2 one of the best Linage II Emulation cores around.

I am confused is this a server ad or a emulator project ad? If its a server ad its destined to fail. Negative feedback is part of the game..deal with it.

You are apparently developing a "new" emulator but you cannot implement your own anti-bot?

You realize that Ciscos so called ddos protection hardware is end of life and starts to fail at 2gbps flood. Something that is commonplace these days.

I would love to see that..really.

Sounds like Cogent. Hope not or your players are going to have all types of lag.

What you guys are trying to do is interesting and hopefully you stick with it. But it really sounds like you cannot make up your mind between a dev server or live server. Maybe donations? On a dev server?

I wish you guys good luck. Just posted to point a few things.

It is for both actually since we are doing an ongoing development but the server itself is live. I will apologize for the negative feedback, what I should have written is that we are not interested in flaming. My bad. Unfortunately I cannot edit the post now. :D

No, my team has enough to do with developing the emulator so we hired a Russian team to code an antibot system for us. Problem is it will not be ready for a few weeks. :P

Yes, we are already aware of that but right now it is better than having no firewall system at all. At least we have a limited level of protection but we know it is not 100%.

L2Insomnia wrote:

So would we, but since we will probably never see that many players we will settle for 2000 with no lag. :)

L2Insomnia wrote:

No, we are renting a dedicated server with OVH, a company located in Paris France. One of their reps gave us a good deal on a machine so we took it. So far nobody has reported any lag at all, comments in game from test players say they are amazed at how smooth it runs.

As I wrote in my first reply it is both, ongoing development on a live server. Yeah, it has been a lot of work and we have been working on it for almost five years. Since we have been at it for five years we have no plans on stopping now. lol

Thanks, we do not mind criticism and feedback on our work it's just that we are not interested in people bombing us with flames such as "server sucks!" and childish comments like that.

My team, eight of us total, is made up of old farts since the youngest is Missy (our geodata dev) and she is 35.. I am 45 as of a few months ago. heh

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts. :)

first impressions:
the "no negative feedback" - kinda minus (dont worry i fixed it in ur post,in future if u need assistance feel free to drop a pm to me or xmvp or icarus)
the link to the website uve posted - was wrong hybrid2.com had nothing to do with ur site (i assumed it is hybridl2.com and successed in accessing the site; dont worry fixed it already)
rates - the q reward rate in my humble opinion is kinda low. with pt boost of 1.3 and vitality the adena quests wont help u get the money u need in time(maybe x5 would be pretty much good)
features - seem nice to me!hope in future the seeds wont be customized but retail-like and i love the no-dualbox setup (tho not many like it)
enchantments - any changes in h5?why +4/5 instead of +3/4?
the whole concept - why dont u set up a nice open testing period instead of launching a live server and then (lets hope wont happen) because of a major bug/abuse/dupe rollback or even wipe it?i personally wouldnt risk my time!ofcourse developing/fixing/recoding is a neverending process but to me it sounds pretty rough
the website - no logo(meh...),no "how to connect" tab,no "features" tab

i wish u guys good luck and im looking forward to joining u in the future with my lads

heh. Thanks for making the corrections. Had I seen them earlier I would have edited the post. I cannot believe I mistyped the web address! GAH!

We have an actual website in development but it is not ready so we decided to open using the forums for now. The actual site will have all the bells and whistles a private Lineage II server needs so you need not worry about that.

The problem with having a BETA testing period, from my past experiences, is when the beta is done and you say IT WILL BE WIPED it tends to turn people away from trying it. Plus I check a lot of beta servers and they always have little to no population because of the wipe thing. So we felt that opening the server with 10x rates and no customs would make our server more attractive.

Seed of Destruction and Seed of Infinity are done and working (just needs a few minor html cleanups), as are some of the new High Five quests (Sel Muham zone, etc).

As for the enchants we upped them by +1 to allow players to have a tiny advantage to enchanting their gear instead of failing at +3/+4.

Our anti-dual box and Olympiad anti-feed system works pretty well from our own testing, but the real test will be with a larger population.

All the server information, How To Connect, Features, and other information are all posted on the forums and easily accessible. Until the website is done we have to make due with forums. :)

Seems a little crazy to basically go straight live but I hope it pans out for you. Great to see some people older than myself (33)! Russians making your anti-bot...careful lol.

I am going to keep an eye on your project hopefully it goes smoothly. For your ddos protection look into a actual network protection liker Arbor and Top Layer. Little bit pricey but worth it if you are going to have a large population.

The problem with not having beta and being in this in-between-stage is that nobody wants to join now because of possible major bugs/exploits/wipe and because of very low to zero population. Also this game is all about competition as you know and so most players like to start at the same time competiting with each others - when the server is stable. I think I can clearly say that most players doesn't even look twice to a server - even if it's perfect - if it has low population. Some might disagree with me but I'd say 300 players are still very low for a healthy server.
I love how determined you and your team are about most preferences of the server (especially the no-dual box policy because it's extremely rare) and I think you should be about this topic too. In my opinion you should go through a beta stage and after things got sorted out go for a big start. Otherwise I really don't see your server will have any serious population.

PS: Is the first 2 class change quests are really neccessary? Two things sucks about L2 the most: class change quests and fishing. The first 2 CCQ's are really nothing but a couple hours of runnig around and getting really annoyed.

What? I have a question.

How does a C++ core call something written in java?

in my opinion to succed instead of going live and advertising afterwards u should go through open beta stage and give urself some time to advertise the server all around the net
u can use as trick ur unique c++ coding, the unique antibot/hack,no dualbox feature
make kewl banners, pay to post them around topzone/hopzone,finish ur website and when uve finally built the perfect appearance for ur server and had nuff time to gain publicity launch it
the project looks pretty raw atm

i personally would do it that way(from the POV of a veteran l2 player  )

You point out some good things about our project and how we should be doing things. As for running a beta period you are probably correct so I will probably go with what you all have been suggesting and run a beta period. Any idea on how long and how many we should run?

The no dual boxing thing is something everybody in my team agrees on, but it seems that unless players can drag 4 characters behind their main they have no idea how to play the game properly. :D

Getting players to join any server is always difficult, especially since there are so many now and competition is really insane. A year or two ago you never saw so many new servers popping up and now they appear everyday almost.

As for the first two class changes, well, we know they are a pain but they are there on retail so they are going to be there in our server. They do suck, but the fact is retail states you have to at least do the first one, but you can buy the second on via a quest in Giran Blacksmith shop.

That is a secret we are not going to reveal since apparently, from our research, has never been done before in a Lineage II emulation system. ;)

I will say this, it took several months of trial and error and lots of cursing before we got it working.

Yeah, I need to find someone who is willing to make some banners as nobody on the team, including myself, has any graphics skills. I tried a few times but they looked pretty shitty. If anybody is willing, or knows someone by all means please contact me.

I have been checking around at some of the top voting sites and will begin registering sometime this week. We already have one on Hopzone but it is not the paid version, plus it has not been authorized yet (takes forever it seems) so hopefully that will help us in the future.

We really appreciate all the suggestions and comments and will certainly take them into consideration for the future of our server.

Very promising concept for a server, especially the "no dualbox" part. Good luck with this project!

The length of the beta stage is a bit tricky since it'll depend on the amount and effectivity of the players willing to help test the server thoroughly and the pace you and your staff can make the changes/fixes where they are neccessary. Althought, we're having no insight of what has been already implemented on your server whatsoever.

The no dualbox policy is like a dream coming true to me, but I fear this can also be a deal breaker for a lot of players basically "growing up" with buffer trains and npc buffers.

Heh, was thinking it was something like that. I've studied c++ for 2 years and it doesn't get along with java very well since they're so different from each other.

Okay, myself and the other developers has a meeting on the whole "beta" thing and we have decided that we are going to continue as we are now. We also got some feedback from existing test players on our server and they do not like the idea of a wipe.

Our server will just have to keep going and hope that eventually players will join.

But I do ask everybody, epecially the ones who have posted in here, to at least log in and try it for an hour or so. You might not find many people but we would really like your opinions from game experience, not suggestions from playing on past servers. :)

Thank you for the suggestion though, and feel free to keep commenting and suggesting things.

Lineage is about competiting with each others - at least for me and for the most part of L2 community - but it's pretty much impossible on an empty server and so no decent clans/allies will join to such server.
I think your team just wasting time at this point with making a server for acouple players, but don't get me wrong I wish you and your team good luck, it's just not what we were expecting.
