ye and in x10kkk servers where chars crit for gazillions of dmg that might save ur ass(if the lolserver supports the formula ofcourse!if it doesnt do that-->heavy ftw..pure pdef>not working -35% crt)
since epilogue(or gracia final dont remember exactly) the max crit is 50%(50-35=15%..kklol :D)

Depends entirely on the situation. If you're kiting/chasing, use light. If you're going into someone head on (excluding mages) use heavy. If you have {pvp} on your light, always use light.
