A lot of big projects have been launched from low to high rate recently and more are coming in the next month(s) so share where u are all gaming and is there a server launch that you are anticipating? And are you generally leaning towards retail gameplay or some modded projects?

Not playing much recently, finishing the school so not much time for gaming... I sometimes play with my bro and some folks over at Dex and sometimes I log at Classic Club, but nothing much...

In longterm... Well I've always hated modded projects, but if something really caught my attention recently, it's this 'PlayINERA' project that really seem to completely rework the entire game and the folks really seem to put an enormous effort into it... But I'm also somewhat intrigued by those real oldschool servers like Anima or Firebird... Also I've heard of Dawn reopening, not sure if there's any truth to that, but I remember it also was one of those honest servers... But anyway overall no real preference then, will see what time brings

Dawn isn't reopening sadly, Chinatown confirmed that back in March on their discord. Its great to see some real "old-school" chronicles coming up like Anima, Firebird and Reunion. I'm personally avoiding places like Raidfight/Tales/Zeus/Canyon or whatever they want to call themselves, its literally just a use of the name now as they are seemingly all run by the same company (don't want to start that debate here but there is plenty of posts and proof about it all over the place) and nothing to do at all with the original servers from yesteryear.

If you want a good low rate C6 server, Afterlife is one of the only places worth going to right now. X3 rates, dualbox only and about a month old now.

LineageDos looks great, no dualbox x3 C6 server with a lot going on for it. Attempting to create bits of their own lore and "main characters" of the server, they are doing blogs bringing more life to the place and the team is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Launches at the end of June.

Zeus/Tales being run by the same people seems quite plausible from the first sight, but RF too? I wasn't really following it recently but would you mind sharing some of the proofs? I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, just genuinely curious.

indeed i agree most of the "new servers" are same shit old files hosted by same group of people.
you can see same bugs in those servers that we could exploit 10+ years ago which should immediately ring a bell that they are donation-bags that will be wiped out in a few months

servers are advertised to have "unique files, own development" yeah sure... same bugs as in early interlude l2j versions i played for a while....

it pains me to see that the l2 community agrees with this and still is ready to pay "Only 50 euro at server start" only to see it all wiped in 3-4 months for the next project with bad name to start under a new fence.

only 2 box or no dualbox in the server description always adds sexyness +99 to the whole thing

lineagedos has buff scrolls for donations which for me is a big nono, raidfight shot itself in the foot with them like many other servers. also im not keen on learning the game again, i know it pretty well as it is and i would like to play and have fun

They are all Stalonka servers at the end of the day. Quite a few posts about it on MXC and the Polish l2 forum who's name I can never remember. Just to show the link here quick however:

Same files, same websites, same discord style and layout, marketed together always and donations all accepted by the same PayPal account. They are all cash grab servers and have nothing to do with their previous namesakes.

Just about Lineagedos and the buff scrolls, they are low level buffs only and you cannot get Vampiric or Acumen from scrolls so I am not that bothered about that on the server ( 1 hour Pack Buffs Death Whisper Lv.1, Wind Walk Lv.2, Shield Lv.3, Agility Lv.2, Empower Lv.2, Might Lv.3, Haste Lv.1, Focus Lv.2, Guidance Lv.1, Berseker Lv.1, Regeneration Lv.1, Magic Barrier Lv.1, Blessed Body Lv.1, Blessed Soul Lv.1). Any buffer level 52+ will be more helpful than the scrolls, you also have newbie buffs until level 32 to negate the scrolls further.

I share the issue of having time to commit in game, it took a while but now I really just play this game for fun. I am not in a rush anymore and enjoy the game at a slower pace. Yeah it might take me months to get to 3rd class but so what, that is why LineageDos looks so appealing since they have spent so much time actually making lore into the game (a lot of new stuff also what is really well written).

No box seems to be the way forward right now, look at reborn for example with some of the very worst files ever in a server yet had tons of players (Seems the poor administration has killed it off).

It still have healthy community but admins need to interact more with their playerbase.Its obviously not l2$$$.com because u cant even buy 2nd class even w donation ... I have really hard time trying to bring friends because of this. lol

hi ,elmorelab looks also nice oldschool server its x3 c2 i think and going for c3 ,no donates effect the game,they have no limit boxes until now but soon they will have limit 3 box.

they call it with the fancy word franchising but its basically creating different brands under 1 cap to simulate competition ive had the chance to speak with the same customer 3 times under 3 different brand names and i raised the price offer with 20% every time

i agree with Amrx on the buff scrolls part, actually this is a pretty balanced setup, i rly didnt notice the lvl of the buffs

tbh it basically is a shame for the l2 community in general because players funnel money to the same group fo lame server owners that relaunch same trash files to make some quick money.

I agree completely, 2020 has seen a resurrection of Lineage 2's player base. People come back and see so many of their long since forgotten servers return, only to be met with p2w cashgrab servers sharing nothing but their name with these old servers.

A lot got fooled by Raidfights return thinking it would be like the good old days, at least now the community is aware now of this (notice how all the weekly events stopped for a while now on RF and all the advertisements have now been swapped with Zeus adverts instead?)

It's still such a shame that Dawn 2.0 isn't launching, I understand Chinatowns reasons why though. At the end of the day the community made that server what it was, the admins reacted with it and let it flourish.

Whilst a no-box server isn't to everybodies liking, I did post about Lineagedos here on Pmfun if you want to go check it out (viewtopic.php?p=306617#p306617), the dedication and passion the admin team have for the game is amazing to see and it will be great to see more of the old Pmfun members on there!

Something I'm noticing lately, is that despite the whole L2 scene is still largely about those recycling cashgrab servers, there's more and more servers that look like they're made by mature people with much enthusiasm without money on mind, for example (random pick, much more of them really) Anima, Firebird, Khanda or that heavily customized server PlayINERA - the effort they're putting into the server is just breathtaking. L2 Knight caught my attention too, taking the game to the extreme low rate with max level 25 - it's actually one of those concepts I've been carrying in my head for a long time and I'm glad that someone actually went ahead and made it real.

Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's a matter of time until people mature enough to ditch those huge cashgrab servers and start coming to those honest ones. The problem is, that despite having good intentions and skill to make a great server, as there're more and more of these people, they all want to implement their own ideas, which again fracture the 'market' of those high quality servers, dividing the 'enlightened' part of the community to smaller fragments, which in turn reduces each of these servers' longevity (I'm now speaking mostly at the low rate servers, it's obvious that it's hard to find a server with similar apporach as for example the mentioned PlayINERA)
