Ok, so here is the problem.
I can play on some servers but on most of the servers when I log in with the character the game just closes after few seconds.. no matter what I do even if I don't even move.
I can't figure out what it is.
Example I play on Piligrims, it doesn't need a patch or anything - just clean Gracia 2 game, I only need to change the host - I can play there until the electricity goes down. But on other server like InfiniteL2 which also needs clean Gracia 2 server but with different host - I log in, and bam, game closes, no error, no sound, nothing, it just closes like that.
I think the game is fine cuz I only change the hosts file, but how the hosts file makes this problem O_o
Also I use Windows 7, this never happened with XP, maybe this is the problem but how this matters for the different servers.
I also tried reinstalling the game, didn't help.

Well I log, I make char, I start and when I'm about to kill my first gremlin the game throws me off without any error..
That's on A LOT of servers, I'm happy to find few servers which don't throw me off like that.

Windows 7, like with winxp you can hardly run dos-type games.
But Azure for god's sake, why do you need windows7? Are you a programmer or you work in an office and play l2 in breaks?
There's rly no point of it, inst. an xp somehow and use win7 only if you're doing something serious.

This is just like installing linux, way better than xp but I can't use it to play.

Though believe it or not, it happens to me too, I'd gone in retro-mode and played half-life 1. Whenever I changed the game-type it run for 10-15secs and then exited in an instant. Why? Because the engine crashed.

Lineage2 uses unreal2 engine that was made in the early years of xp, when most ppl had 98. Now you're trying to run an extremely old engine with an OS that was made for professionals and for office-use and because it's too new, u2 engine is like a dos program for it, what'd you expect?

And this means to everyone:
Don't install always the newest, you won't be cooler, you won't be more awesome, it's like changing your karmian set to doom robe set because it's B-grade, you'll be just an epic fail.

So no offense, but think of what I wrote if you want to play l2, if you don't care, go wait for aion, that will be better and will run on w7.

the connection and multiplayer are part of the engine, if you haven't messed up with that, then w7 might not like your activity in it's hosts file

That used to happen to me, when I used windows 2000. With XP or vista it doesnt happen anymore, ur probably missing some files/updates
