Really you're cool with it? I would have guessed you would be in this regards oldschool like me, ie that autohunt is a big nono. To me it always felt like - what's the point of having just a window opened in the background playing for me? Might as well just type in "give me 10 million adena" and save myself the extra electricity bill :lol: I mean, if you don't want people to put any effort in farming, then... Don't? Just make things free, you know? But then again I know that idle games are/were quite popular so maybe I'm just missing something... I know even NCsoft made this Essence thing which is entirely based on the auto-farm. Not sure if it was any popular, the moment I saw the autohunt feature I was like HECK NO and never checked it out again. Anyway, an idle /bump

I meant cool about your enthusiasm about the project. I don't really like autohunt. Unless levelling is turned off and it depends on the adena drops. Killing a level 53 creature for 128 adena on some low rate servers is just abysmal.

About AutoPlay:

It's legitimized botting, and in most servers it just completely devalues all inherent gameplay. Why are you even playing at that point, you know, if the game plays itself? The satisfaction of progression, the skill of efficient farming, the choices you make... all of it becomes meaningless when you can set it and forget it. I know this, because I've played a lot of servers, just as I've also botted a lot.

The same thing could be said about botters, but these gain an advantage over legit players. So AutoPlay becomes more like a bot-permitted server, it reminds me of the "If you can't beat them, join them" strategy. Servers with AutoPlay are probably the most bot-free servers that exist... because the bot is integrated in the interface :D

With AutoPlay, everyone is on equal footing, but that footing is... well, not really playing.

We were originally heavily against it. The whole concept felt wrong. But after trying it out and seeing how it functions, we designed a plan to keep it... kind of revolving the whole server around it. We decided to keep it because we offer something unique that changes the entire dynamic.

In L2Cruma, when players PvP or PK you, you lose a percentage of the farmed items you've accumulated since you have visited a peace zone. This transforms AutoPlay from a passive, risk-free activity into something you actually need to monitor and defend. Your character might be farming automatically, but you're still invested because other players can show up and take your drops. It creates constant tension in the farm zones and rewards active presence.

We made a server that is fundamentally about PvP but requires farm to sustain your PvP activities... and most people don't wanna farm in a PvP server. They want the action, not the grind. AutoPlay is a big excuse we give them so they stop being lazy and go out and farm, becoming a target for others... all of that without the effort of farming, while the PvP remains meaningful and contested. You're now fighting for actual items that someone else farmed.

I hope that gives you a better explanation of why we went for it :D

You are forgetting that Botting ruined Lineage 2 community. NC-Soft didn't care because every bot was a paid sub.

Botting ruined the economy by driving prices up, and now anyone with cash could afford weapons they never had access to by themselves.

In the early days you could pay someone one to level you and then buy a crap ton of adena and gear.

That is not lineage. Thats cheating.

The grind, the friendships, the discovery. That was Lineage.

Everything you mentioned happened in the original Lineage as well. You could drop items when killed. Plus
incentivizing killing auto-farmers just adds more griefing to the game IMHO.
