Hello. This concerns mostly the lowrate servers, which have less than 500 players. I know - that means the most of them, but imo L2's inner drop/spoil calculator was made for communities of +1k people. If you disagree, then don't bother reading any further. I've been playing L2 since C2 on private servers and I noticed a pattern (not just on myself): when a person joins a playable but low populated server and sees the struggle in the long run, then is just like "Nope.". In L2 you have to grind, it's simple. You can take a spoiler, which helps a lot in mats and recipes and items and this way you have easier play for levels +50 and reach high levels in B grade or higher. Otherwise you need a large, working market for mats. The less shops are around, the higher are prices. And that's not a wonder - their sellers did that spoil thing. So how about moving literally all the items, including mats, dyes, enchants, recipes, keymats - everything into the drop lists of all the mobs that would give them only to spoilers? If leaving the same drop % as it was for spoil is too high, then just lower it twice (but not 10 times) so every player would get the needed stuff from simply killing mobs by his favorite gameplay class. This might sound insane, as no1 ever did this (afaic). But why not try? There are many benefits towards the players community. For example: I would be finally able to start a tank on a lowrate server, instead of launching PS/spoil dualbox to avoid troubles at 60s. This would imo make the game much more enjoyable. Some of you might argue, that it's a mmo and in a mmo you are supposed to grind, but let me answer this in advance - in private servers there is no monthly subscription, which was the main reason NCsoft ripped off FF11. So people don't have to grind, but can focus on enjoying the game. Isn't it why we play it? This might work very well on servers free of item-donations, as it takes one burden off the player and gives a lot of stuff in return, making the game much more rewarding and pleasant, even when soloing most of it. |

that would give crazy advantage for dwarves, especially spoilers. Even without this idea, they are one of two classes that has tons of money. Also that would disbalance economy, there would be way more full items, and prices would drop, especialy bad idea for low rates. maybe in mid rates its ok, cause market is shit there. But low raates needs farming, grinding and long gathering of mats to craft stuff, thats all fun in low rates. btw i remember that some items d c b grade were spoilable in catacombas back in c4 c5 c6 maybe even gracia+, but chance was similar to getting top drop from mob, and those items were bad robes and those book type weapons for mages |

I don't know if L2 originally worked that way. I remember grinding mobs at C2/C3 being the same as it is on Interlude. It would give crazy advantage for spoilers only if they were given additional spoil options. But if the mobs would be giving spoilable stuff as drops, then they wouldn't spoil anything, so spoilers would be non-existent. Crafters would have much more stuff to do. There would be many more full items, but then the scrolls would come handy! On a lowrate you can stay for more than few days on lvls 40-60, so why not enchant your armor and weapon for advantage, if the items are cheap and the scrolls are avaible? People would OE them much more than they do now and at +4 they start breaking, so items would get crafted again. It wouldn't be fun only for people who play the game specifically to grind and then have advantage over those who dislike grinding - amongst all: bot users. Players would be able to get stuff neccessary for them while botusers would simply waste their time. I also thought about the possibility of Spellhowlers or Destro+supports getting lots of lots of stuff this way but here comes the weight limit - after 50% MP regen gets down and without mana supports are useful. And on lvls 60+ you need the stuff fin your EQ which takes 40% of your weight limit, meaning that they would not farm crazy amounts, unsless they'd go to city every hour or two. And nowadays that would mean at least a short break from playing the game. So they wouldn't farm too much. Daggers with manor seeds would have lots of fun tho. In fact, the game would be more fun anyway. At least that's my opinion ofc. |

Another idea, much less broken: How about enhancing Merchant of Mammon to upgrade stuff above C grades, up to A grades, just as NCsoft did in latter chronicles, regardless of the server's chronicle? Also, it could work for keymats - instead of gathering lots of useless keys for various stuff, player could trade them with the npc for mats for a different item, or upgrade them to a higher-lvl-item keys in ratio like 2:1 or 3:1. Mobs drop them, players don't use them - now mobs would drop them and players would use them. Simple. |
