About: ServerRankings.com Summary: Advanced (Lineage II) server listings site Description: After a few years of using the most popular listing site (not mentioning names) i'm left unimpressed. Bugs aren't being fixed, no new features are added, pages load slow, rules are randomly being enforced, suggestions are ignored and contact with staff members seems near impossible. Recently many clone (copy-paste) - mostly banner / advertisement infested - websites have appeared, offering the exact same crap services. ServerRankings.com aims to put the bar a tid-bit higher, allowing numerous unique features:
This is just a general list of currently available features, more interesting features are planned to be added soon after more servers are added in the listing. All 8 official NA and EUR servers maintained by NCSoft have been added to the listings, to show you an example of the website's functions. Visit now @ http://www.ServerRankings.com (I posted this in the section i thought most appropriate, if however there's a better section then my apologies to the moderators, i ask you please to move it to which you deem better.) |

As in, what exactly? Functionality? Design? Features? Perhaps in comparison to all the other sites that all work and even look the same? Don't get me wrong, i appreciate input, but as far as replies go these have been rather useless. Perhaps post a screenshot with feedback of how you see things to make matters more constructive? If it happens to be colors, images or the background you're refering too, then that's just how it is. Not everyone's eyes are pleased by the same things |

1)design: -bright colours-hurts the eyes everybody knows that pastelle-type colours are best ,they never hurt the eyes and they are relaxing -background image-the poor elven female has only little part of her body displayed there 2)functionality:in general the concept is "not nice" -i dont see place for banners(or ur not plannin to earn money from this project?) -the space on the page u have designed for server list is pretty small and there is no "pages" system so i imagine when u get more popular how users will have to scroll down and down and down and down till they find what they need -there are important features that are missing: *5 newest servers info *top 10 servers info *listed servers wont be able to place banners next to their server names because the listbox is pretty narrow(u could make donation services for that and earn more money+make the site look better) good features-great search engine which includes countries, donations and etc ->perfect addon |

Thanks for the feedback, GoDs3nD, that's very usefull. However, you seem to be viewing the site too much with other 'server listing sites' in mind, trying to compare this site to them. The 'concept' of my page is not to have it be banner infested, nor to let users click through 20 pages of servers trying to find one they like. Instead, here they can view all servers directly on the main page. If the list of servers gets 'too big' they have a powerful advanced search feature available - which will help reduce the amount of displayed servers alot - while only displaying the ones that the end-user is interested in. * The section displaying the servers is just big enough to display the top-10 - to view others the user has to scroll. I've tested the system with 400 dummy servers, and combined with the (advanced) search it's actually very easy to scroll trough, because - as said - it only displays the ones you're interested in seeing. Besides, viewing different server's info goes really fast as it doesn't need to reload entire pages. * The 5 newest servers are displayed already on the front page, including their chronicle and rates. As for banners and add-space, this has gotten no attention as having them is not a goal or priority at this moment. There are currently just 4 private servers in the list, an appropriate goal for this moment would be to get more of those About the design and colours, i will look into that. My first concern was to get all the features working, but the design can be a 'work in progress' and develop over time Again, thanks for the input. |

i have a question what will happen if there are like 100 servers that fit to ur terms?:D pages setup is pretty simmilar to level setup lowest level/grade servers have less votes and are listed on the pages with lowest priority and its actually easier to sort out(at least to me) dont get me wrong i dont mean copy-pasting other ranksites concepts but combining their best also keep in mind that popular ranklists have huge potential to earn money u can get pretty rich with the banners stuff |

Hmm, i see what you mean. But i believe it should work out fine. Even if the list was populated with several hundred servers, i think that by setting a few search paramaters the returned list will always be of an acceptable size. For example, say the database has 200 total servers. Let's say 60% of those are Epilogue chronicle and 20% of those are with rates < 50. You'd be left with a final list of 24 servers. The first 10 are always displayed, which means that to view the other remaining 14 you'd only need minimal scrolling. This result was obtained by using only 2 search paramaters (chronicle and rates). By using any of the other total of 16 current paramaters, you could minimize the final list even more. Perhaps even down to just one server. Saying that, if in time it shows that people still need to excessively scroll - this system can always be adjusted. But to review the current situation we really just need more servers to be added On another note, the scrolling can also work as a 'quality check'. Meaning, the more you need to scroll to view a sever, the less appealing it probably is to play on that certain server. |

Ok, so after a quick look i can say a few things about it... The server's page, with alot of useful info, looks pretty well, and you can add on it things like Quest drop rate, Quest reward, Quest xp reward, Gm shop(On/off/On only with Bgrade), NPC buffer, etc., because i can't find it on any other site like this, and it can be annoying sometimes. Also, you can ask server adders to put their servers in a category(low-rate, mid-rate, high-rate), to make searching a bit easier. What i don't like is the background. It has to be one with other colors, not so bright, and i think that the server page would look better if it wouldn't be transparent. Also the ranking windows doesn't look so great positioned there. I would suggest to put it right in the "server's" window, and make it longer, and when you click on a server, the "ranking page" would turn into "server's page" and when you press [Close] button, or any button, you can easily go back to the ranking page and instead of the current "ranking page" you can add the "newest server" and in right side of the black window you can add "new forum posts" or "upcoming servers"(make the windows a bit smaller than they are now we're not blind Another thing i hate on the other ranking sites(mostly hopzone Oh, and is it possible to make the big logo from left side upper corner a link to the main-page? That's how usually all sites have, like pmfun's upper logo on the forum, it sends you on the main page. I hope i didn't upset anyone, i just felt i have to give me opinion/suggestion about this, and i hope you will have succes with this site, because we need something better than what we have now. Good luck, and sorry for bad english. |
