L2DC happens to be closed source, I guess the only way to gain access to their datapack is to join the development team, or maybe bribe one of developers / L2DC server admins (-;

Also, L2J doesn't have any "stable" releases since quite a long time now. Releasing stable version of any software is time-consuming process (decide on the content of release, code branch/freeze, quality assurance - and after releasing, maintaining yet another branch of code, porting bug fixes from development version etc. etc.), and L2J is just some voluntary project.

Still, pace of L2J development if pretty fast, I encourage you to try fresh, out-of-SVN version (http://www.l2jdp.com/svn), or equivalent night builds (http://www.l2jdp.com/nightly/).

Archid? Sorry, I don't know anything about it.

Good way to go is l2jserver.com

L2j is great piece of software and you can make it better by:
*Making detailed reports to L2J team.
*Testing any contributions @ L2J forums and providing detailed reports.
*Contacting L2J developers @ IRC and ask them if they have some fix to give you to fix.
*Check L2J Trac for tickets which are easy to fix and fix them or contact developers on IRC for a fix.
*Learn some Java and play a bit with its code.

The problem with L2J is that its full of leechers which they don't even provide good bug reports. Try to revert that. If every L2J user did the above, there would be no need for forks!

L2DC is closed source so I doubt you can get it. There is some leak though but its old and its Epilogue beta so it has many bugs.

on the official l2j site u get mostly always the new chronicle pack
but if you don't know anything about it, then it's useless to consider making a server out of it

i myself use it to try out a few things or pvp with one of two friends

what i have to compile from this ?

If you are using the files from the SVN server you will need either Eclipse or Tortoise to get the files as well as compile them (use Ant for build.xml files or Maven for pom.xml). I will say that compiling is tricky to get the hang of so if you have never done it before I suggest reading their Wiki guides on how to do it.

My advise is if you do not know how to compile then use their Nightly Builds as they are already compiled and only need to be configured based on what you want.

If you are using a router you will have to open the ports to both that and your firewell or else you cannot connect.

Ports to open:
2106 - This is for the login server

3306 - This is the MySQL database (open only if you are going to have any form of remote access, IE: Web based account creation, remote admin access, etc)

7777 = This is the port for the server itself

Keep all other ports shut to prevent backdoor hacking.
