imo there are so many servers .... everyday random guys open new servers...and after 2 days the servers are dead.....most of them open servers with exactly the same features and shit with the others...i dont understand why they do it... why they think that people will join their server cause it has better name? lol....
also people are tired of these many fail servers so they quit l2...there were periods that i was trying to find server high rate to play....and all of them had 0-50 online max.... after 2 days dead...
i dont know how some fail servers with unfair donations and stupid admins and etc survive and attract many players ....
also it depends on the time that you will open the server and the advertisment that you will give...

AN ADVICE : STOP OPENING THE SAME SERVERS LIKE 99999999999999 OTHERS ...... TRY SOMETHING NEW OR DIFFERENT AND TRY TO KEEP MAX ENCHANT NOT ABOVE 16 .... AND CREATE NICE FARMING ZONES !!!!!!!! THESE FOR HIGH RATE SERVERS :D

AND SOMETHING LAST !! TRY TO SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS OF YOUR SERVERS BEFORE YOU LAUNCH IT !!!!!! IF THE SERVER IS NOT COMPLETE WHY YOU LAUNCH IT ???? if the server has 454252562 problems you think that the players will stay to wait you to fix them? pfff

but who cares about players.....DONATIONS = SERIOUS BUSINESS !!!!

If the server is lolhigh rate its gonna have infinite number of bugs even if its tested for 2 years

What happens now is because nowadays it's too damn easy to host a lineage 2 server. Back in c4 era, you had to know exactly what you were doing in order to even START a server. Right now any user can download a preconfigured pack, modify a few text files for the ip address, a few more for the announcements and some shitty ingame text and voila. It's preconfigured. This is why there are dozens of servers that are exactly the same: admins don't have a clue about creating something nice because all their interest is donation. Not to mention, back in c4 you needed a hell of a machine to host 1k+ players, while right now with java you can host 1k players with a low-range quad core and 4 gigs of ram. That's all you need, a few hundred bucks.

Plus that most people wanna show off like 'hey dude look how pro I am, I haz l2 server'. Who gives a shit!? I can download one right now and set it up in 10 minutes if I wanna have fun with my friends.

Conclusion: too many servers. And fewer people. This is bad from both sides because there aren't as many players as back in c4-interlude era, and on top of that there are too many servers making matters worse by dissipating the population.

Oldschool players quit because most of them don't like lolfreya and lolhi5. Let's be serious, they have changed the deepest fundaments of the game. The new equipment.. WTF!? They all do the same fucking shit. They should have stopped with s-grade, or expand it. Making higher-tier armors was a bad idea. I'm playing interlude, so that endgame I can CHOOSE to wear a damn majestic light on my dagger so that I can get stun resistance and decent pdef. In freya I was forced to go for elegia/vorpal which does NOTHING except pdef.

While I agree with Icarus in most of his points, I must say that a pretty big % from all the "fault" is coming from the players! Having many servers to chose from, give players the right to try them out, but is also their responsibility to chose the "right one".

I miss good old White][Eagle Interlude, before the donations :/
That was a hell of a server back in the days.
Mass PvPs with numbers of 20-30 ppl in one side. No stupid attributes and sh1t.
Can`t anyone create a server like that? Not C6 though. That`s waaay to old now. :)

OT...
To KABAL: Why Epilogue? :/ Your server looks great, but that epilogue part makes me cry...

Well, having the source code for the Epilogue and testing it for quite some time, I have decided to go with it. Is stable in many ways. Though , I heard Freya is more stable , I have decided to go internal with the development for it. Hence, we will see how things work.
