Where is your information from? Do you have retail proof? Private servers could very well all have it wrong at this point, and that's the very reason I'm spending time trying to clear this up.

Did some quick tests on a HB private server using a WR w/ no tats, no CD, no rings -- the target had 700 p.def:

I'm going to give up on it probably. There's just not enough evidence around of what it was like in retail HB I guess, and all the private servers in the world are probably modified from before then anyways (best guess given all the ridiculous extenders, bugs, etc.).

Isn't Focus Death supposed to be a multiplier of your overall blow dmg and not just base*90%? I mean there's simply no goddamn way I'm going to get the character I took those SS of to the damage of any dagger video on YouTube with rings and everything else. The only possible way is if Focus Death worked as I'm describing, or BackStab did a lot more than other blows (which where I tested it does absolutely nothing different).

Also, is this 90% that it's supposed to add of overall dmg, or of base dmg only?

most things in L2 is on base value... imagine tyrant, which have splitner focus, baium, aq, cat buff, zealot (doubles the crits), hawk or bison (doubles crits again), prophecy of wind (agian increase them)

Comparing a dagger to a tyrant in this doesn't work at all.

Focus Death being an overall multiplier is the only way to explain live videos of AW/PWs (GX as well) running around and doing 6~7k dmg to DC robes with 12k+ double crits. If the skill is base*90% none of that is possible, even with full rings, etc.

The person who did tests for me agreed that NPCs can only be hit from the side as someone suggested (so 60% dmg increase), so that's what the confusion was about in the beginning, anyways.

Getting closer to a real answer, which is what most thought all along I guess.
