Hey people, so I was wondering if you (anyone) have any opinion about the new video card that I'm going to get, to have a better l2 gaming... I'm not sure if this card is good enough to give me a good playing time, since I have a good internet connection and the server that I play is pretty much close where I live, but I'm still having lag so my friend told me that its mostly my video card that is not good enough.. anyway the graphic card is: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVID ... 40DI1GD3A/ just want you, anyone that is good and knows something about graphic/video cards, to give me an opinion that should I get it or look for a better one. I appreciate it, thanks. |

First of all, check your RAM. With 2GB of RAM, L2 rolls good enough and with 4GB (as i have) it rolls perfect and you save a lot of money. If you have good RAM, and you do need to change your card i would recommend to search in Gigabyte's product list. I don't have anything towards ASUS, i just prefer GB as they have served me best throught the years i'm into the pc tweaking/modding. |

If you want a smooth l2 experience you actually need a balanced system. For example I once had a Pentium 4 @ 2.8 ghz with 256 megs of ram and an fx5700 card. When I jumped in +512 ram the performance went up and the loading times were much lower. When I got a 6600GT the framerate actually doubled. You need a great bunch of RAM and a good video card. That video card is more than enough for a good experience. If I were you, I'd get a bit of a cheaper card and some more ram. And a good tip: if only one box of l2 is opened, it won't use more than a certain % of your free ram. There are different methods of letting applications use up to 90% of all available ram. For example, I have 4 gigs of ram. One l2 box for me eats up around 700 mb. I have 2 gigs free, doing nothing and waiting to be filled. I once set one l2 box to eat up up to 90% of my ram and the loading times were actually ridiculously low. BUT dual boxing was almost impossible and so was alt-tab. Listening to music also caused some share of trouble. And if you do that, be careful about overheating. If you have 2 ram slots put one near the other (so they are in contact with each other), chances are they're gonna slow down because of overheating if your case ventilation is poor. |
