Hi again,


Well, me and a couple of friends had the genious idea of starting our own l2 server. While I'm a big fan of the idea, I'm left with all the technical side of it, and I know absolutely squat zero, about server creation, all those program languages, basically nothing. What I want, is not to be a person who can be an average server creator, with some basic knowledge. I want to know every last little detail about server creation, maintenance, everything. Lets just say, that we can get server files from a know and trusted server. What must I know, what sites should I visit for best information, maybe some personal tips and guiders? Any help is much appreciated, but please, keep spamwalls and flamewars to a minimum please. Your help is most appreciated

First of all, you must know what you do.
Learn MySQL and some basics in Java.
Learn how to setup your server and learn how to make it secure.
Spend some time in L2j forums, it will be useful to you.
Create a server for testing purpose only on your own PC and spend
some time working on it to see how it works.

Learn to use Eclipse and how to apply patches, test things, etc.
Don't host your server at home on ADSL line. >.<

Last thing, don't hesitate to ask a question whenever you are unsure of something.
