TMZ reports that Tommy Morrison, former heavyweight boxing champion and star of Rocky V, died at the age of 44 in a Nebraska hospital on Sunday night after a long fight with AIDS. His promoter, Tony Holden, confirmed the death. Morrison had been in the hospital for several months due to an illness but he wouldn't say what. He died peacefully with his wife at his side. In 1996, Morrison tested positive for HIV, which ended his boxing career. He later denied having the disease and denied that it existed. He is most well-known for the 1990 movie Rocky V with Sylvester Stallone. He plays a rookie boxer training under Rocky Balboa. In 1993, he beat George Foreman for the heavyweight championship. 411 would like to give our condolences to his family, friends and fans. |
